フランスの鬼才レオス・カラックスが、「ポンヌフの恋人」から8年の時を経て発表した長編第4作。19世紀アメリカの作家ハーマン・メルビルが代表作「白鯨」の翌年に書き上げた長編小説「ピエール」を映画化。舞台を現代のパリに置き換え、運命に翻弄され絶望へと吸い込まれていく男女の激しく疾走する愛を、エモーショナルな映像と音で描き出す。 ノルマンディの城館に暮らす小説家の青年ピエールは、母マリーや婚約者リュシーとともに裕福で満ち足りた田園生活を送っていた。そんなある日、ピエールの異母姉を自称するボスニア難民のイザベルが現れる。ピエールはイザベルの魅力に引き寄せられ、すべてを捨てて彼女とパリへ向かう。 ジェラール・ドパルデューの息子ギヨーム・ドパルデューがピエール、「パリ、18区、夜。」のカテリーナ・ゴルベワがイザベルをそれぞれ体当たりで演じ、ピエールの母マリー役でカトリーヌ・ドヌーブが共演。「そして僕は恋をする」などのエリック・ゴーティエが撮影を手がけ、シンガーソングライターのスコット・ウォーカーが音楽を担当。2026年2月、4Kレストア版にてリバイバル公開。

The fourth feature film by French wunderkind Leos Carax, released eight years after 'The Lovers on the Bridge.' An adaptation of the novel 'Pierre' by 19th-century American author Herman Melville, written the year after his masterpiece 'Moby-Dick.' Shifting the setting to modern-day Paris, it uses emotional imagery and sound to depict the intense, racing love of a man and woman swept up by fate and drawn into despair. Pierre, a young novelist living in a Norman castle, enjoys a wealthy, contented rural life with his mother Marie and fiancée Lucie. One day, Isabelle, a Bosnian refugee claiming to be Pierre's half-sister, appears. Drawn to Isabelle's charm, Pierre abandons everything and heads to Paris with her. Guillaume Depardieu, son of Gérard Depardieu, passionately plays Pierre, and Katerina Golubeva, known for 'Paris at Night,' plays Isabelle. Catherine Deneuve co-stars as Pierre's mother Marie. Cinematography is by Éric Gautier, known for 'My King,' and music is by singer-songwriter Scott Walker. A 4K restored version will be re-released in February 2026.
