漫画家・松本大洋の同名短編集を松田龍平主演で実写映画化した青春映画。「ポルノスター」「ナイン・ソウルズ」の豊田利晃が監督・脚本を手がけ、原作に収録された複数のエピソードを基に不良高校生たちの閉塞感に満ちた青春の日々を鮮烈に描き出す。男子校・朝日高等学校の3年生になった九條と幼なじみの青木は、仲間たちと一緒に授業をサボって屋上に集まり、柵の外側に立って手を叩いた回数を競い合う危険な度胸試し「ベランダゲーム」をする。新記録を出した九條は学校を仕切る権利を手に入れるが、彼にとってはゲームも学校を仕切ることも無意味なことだった。漠然とした不安と苛立ちを抱えながら退屈な日常をやり過ごす彼らに、やがて進路選択という現実が否応なく突きつけられる。

At an all-boys high school. Kyujo (Ryuhei Matsuda) and his five friends, now third-years in the new term, stand outside the railing on the rooftop, playing the 'Balcony Game'—competing to see who can clap the most times before falling. Kyujo sets a new record in this game, where failure means a straight drop to the schoolyard, and as the winner, gains the right to rule the school. But for him, both the 'game' and 'ruling the school' are meaningless and trivial. As Kyujo and the others drift through their aimless days, lost about where they belong, the reality of choosing their future paths is eventually thrust upon them...
