フランスの名匠クロード・シャブロルが、「メグレ警部」シリーズで知られる作家ジョルジュ・シムノンによる同名小説を映画化。 アルコールに溺れる若い女性ベティは、「穴」という名のレストランで中年女性ローラと出会う。ベティの面倒を見ることにしたローラは、自分が宿泊しているホテルの隣の部屋に彼女を連れていく。やがてベティはローラに、自身の結婚生活や“奔放”になった過去について語りはじめるが……。 名優ジャン＝ルイ・トランティニャンの娘でシャブロル監督作「主婦マリーがしたこと」にも出演したマリー・トランティニャンがベティ、「女鹿」「ブルジョワジーの秘かな愉しみ」などのステファーヌ・オードランがローラを演じた。2026年8月、特集上映「クロード・シャブロル傑作選 vol.2」にてデジタルリマスター版で日本初公開。

French master Claude Chabrol adapts the novel of the same name by Georges Simenon, known for the "Inspector Maigret" series. Betty, a young woman drowning in alcohol, meets a middle-aged woman named Laure at a restaurant called "The Hole." Laure decides to take care of Betty and brings her to a room next to her own in the hotel where she is staying. Soon, Betty begins to tell Laure about her married life and her past of becoming "promiscuous"... Marie Trintignant, daughter of the famous actor Jean-Louis Trintignant and who also appeared in Chabrol's "The Swindle," plays Betty, and Stéphane Audran (from "La Biche" and "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie") plays Laure. Screened for the first time in Japan in a digitally remastered version in August 2026 as part of the special screening "Claude Chabrol Masterpieces Vol. 2."
