The second feature film by Guy Gilles, a director re-evaluated since the 2000s as a 'forgotten master of the French New Wave,' depicting a woman living with the memory of her lover who chose death. The present is shown in black-and-white, and fragments of recollection in color, delicately and melancholically portraying the memory of love and the pain of absence. Jeanne lives with the memory of her deceased lover Jean. Jean rejected social order and the bourgeois world, found no place in the Beat generation, and chose death. Unaware of his death, Jeanne feels him always by her side, existing like a ghost. Masha Meril, known for 'A Time for Loving' and 'Belle de Jour,' plays the protagonist Jeanne, and Patrick Jouané, an actor who met Guy Gilles during the filming of 'Le Rempart des Béguines' and became an irreplaceable presence in his life and work, plays the deceased lover Jean. The film was released in Japanese theaters in April 2026.
