This was a highly anticipated comeback film for Yakusho, who had taken a break from acting to prepare for university entrance exams after the massive hit of her starring movie "Sailor Suit and Machine Gun" (1981). The story follows a pampered college girl, played by Yakusho, who is bodyguarded by a private detective played by Matsuda. Director Negishi Kichitaro and the staff devised various strategies to help Yakusho grow as an actress, and she rose to the occasion. It was first released as a double feature with "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" starring Harada Tomoyo. College student Arai Naomi is set to leave for America, where her father awaits, in one week. Invited by her admired senior Nagai, she heads to a hotel, but a man claiming to be her uncle bursts in and drives Nagai away. The man is a private detective named Tsujiyama Shuichi, hired by her father's former secretary to protect her until her departure. One day, Tsujiyama's ex-wife Sachiko shows up at his apartment, saying she is suspected of stabbing Kazuya, the heir to the Okazaki gang, at a hotel. Naomi suggests to Tsujiyama that they search for the real culprit together.
