In a suburban housing complex, several families live side by side like in a row house. The Hayashi family's sons Minoru (Kōji Shidō) and Isamu (Masahiko Shimazu) beg their parents for a television, but their request is denied. The children go on strike, refusing to speak until their demand is met, and eventually, their parents give in and buy one.
