フランス映画界を代表する名匠クロード・シャブロルが、両親を毒殺した少女ヴィオレット・ノジエールの実話をもとに撮りあげたサスペンスドラマ。 1933年に実の両親を毒殺した罪で死刑判決を受けるも恩赦を受けて釈放され、シュルレアリストたちのミューズとなったヴィオレット・ノジエール。家庭で息苦しい思いをしながら外で不品行な行動を重ね、やがて凶行に走る18歳の少女のあやうく繊細な心理を描き出す。 キャリア初期のイザベル・ユペールが主人公の少女ヴィオレットを圧倒的な存在感で演じ、1978年・第31回カンヌ国際映画祭で女優賞を受賞。「女鹿」「ブルジョワジーの秘かな愉しみ」のステファーヌ・オードランがヴィオレットの母親役で共演。2026年8月、特集上映「クロード・シャブロル傑作選 vol.2」にてデジタルリマスター版で日本初公開。

Claude Chabrol, a master representing French cinema, directs this suspense drama based on the true story of Violette Nozière, a girl who poisoned her parents. Violette Nozière, sentenced to death in 1933 for poisoning her biological parents but pardoned and released, became a muse for the Surrealists. The film portrays the precarious and delicate psychology of an 18-year-old girl suffocating at home, engaging in dissolute behavior outside, and ultimately resorting to violence. A young Isabelle Huppert delivers a commanding performance as the titular Violette, winning the Best Actress award at the 31st Cannes Film Festival in 1978. Stéphane Audran of "La Femme cerf" and "Le Charme discret de la bourgeoisie" co-stars as Violette's mother. In August 2026, the digitally remastered version will be shown in Japan for the first time as part of the special screening series "Claude Chabrol Masterpieces vol. 2."
