天安門事件が起きた激動の時代の北京を舞台に、ゲイカップルの10年にわたる愛の行方を描いたラブストーリー。 匿名で発表された中国のインターネット小説「北京故事」を原作に、「ルージュ」のスタンリー・クワン監督のメガホンで映画化した。1988年、民主化の波が押し寄せる北京。政府幹部とのコネを利用して貿易会社を経営するバイセクシャルのハントンは、地方から出て来たばかりの苦学生ランユーを買う。ハントンにとっては一夜限りの遊びだったが、ランユーはハントンとの関係が初めてだった。数カ月後、2人は夜の街で偶然にも再会する。 主演は「レッドクリフ」のフー・ジュンと「山の郵便配達」のリウ・イエ。「藍宇（ランユー）　情熱の嵐」の邦題で2004年に劇場公開。2022年、シネマート新宿＆心斎橋の上映企画「のむコレ6」（2022年11月11日～／東京・シネマート新宿、大阪・シネマート心斎橋）にて「ランユー 4Kデジタルリマスター版」としてリバイバル公開。

A love story depicting the decade-long romance of a gay couple set in Beijing during the tumultuous era of the Tiananmen Square incident. Based on the anonymously published Chinese internet novel Beijing Story, the film was directed by Stanley Kwan of Rouge. In 1988, as waves of democratization sweep through Beijing, Handong, a bisexual man who runs a trading company using his connections to government officials, buys Lanyu, a poor student newly arrived from the countryside. For Handong it was a one-night fling, but for Lanyu it was his first relationship with a man. Months later, the two meet again by chance on the night streets. Starring Hu Jun of Red Cliff and Liu Ye of The Postman in the Mountains. Released theatrically in 2004 in Japan under the title 'Lan Yu: Storm of Passion.' In 2022, it was revived as the 'Lan Yu 4K Digital Remastered Version' at the Cinema Mart Shinjuku & Shinsaibashi screening event 'Nomu Kore 6' (from November 11, 2022 / Tokyo's Cinema Mart Shinjuku, Osaka's Cinema Mart Shinsaibashi).
