子犬のロックが、母の仇である虎のキラーを倒すため野良犬たちと立ち上がる。「忠臣蔵」と巌谷小波の児童文学「こがね丸」を下敷きにしながら、それまでの長篇群に比して明確にディズニーのスタイルが意識されている。無国籍的な都会描写や、手塚治虫のアイデアによる雪の降りしきる遊園地でのアクションには、洒脱でモダンな感覚が息づいている。

A puppy named Rock rises up with stray dogs to defeat Killer the tiger, who killed his mother. Drawing on 'Chushingura' and Sazanami Iwaya's children's literature 'Koganemaru,' this film more consciously adopts Disney's style compared to earlier feature-length works. The stateless urban depictions and the action in a snow-covered amusement park, inspired by an idea from Osamu Tezuka, exude a chic and modern sensibility.
