The first color film by Italian master Michelangelo Antonioni, this psychological drama won the Golden Lion at the 25th Venice International Film Festival in 1964. In Ravenna, an industrial coastal city lined with sterile factories, Giuliana lives with her husband and son but remains unable to recover from the shock of a car accident years earlier, spending her days in emotional instability. One day, her husband introduces her to his friend Corrado. Giuliana is drawn to Corrado, who carries a loneliness similar to her own, and gradually the two grow closer... Monica Vitti, known as Antonioni's muse, plays Giuliana, with British star Richard Harris as Corrado. A 4K restored version will be released in August 2026 as part of the retrospective program "Michelangelo Antonioni Retrospective: Arid Love, Wandering Souls," featuring five of Antonioni's early works.
