フランスの巨匠ジャン＝リュック・ゴダールが、紛争により破壊されたサラエボの街を舞台に、世界平和への祈りを込めて撮りあげた長編劇映画。ダンテの叙事詩「神曲」を下敷きに、「地獄編」「煉獄編」「天国編」の3部構成で描き出す。 講演のためサラエボの街を訪れたゴダール監督は、復興途上の街に歴史の結節点を見いだす。それは人類の争いと虐殺の歴史でもあった。ゴダール監督はイスラエルとパレスチナ、ユダヤとイスラムの非対称性を例にとり、世界を支配する対立構造について語る。「地獄編」は戦争映像のモンタージュで構成、「煉獄編」では講演でサラエボに招かれたゴダール監督と女子学生オルガとの交流を描き、「天国編」ではこの世を去ったオルガがたどり着いた安息の世界を映し出す。 ゴダール監督が本人役で出演するほか、パレスチナの詩人マフムード・ダーウィッシュ、スペイン出身の小説家フアン・ゴイティソーロらが実名で登場。特集上映企画「21世紀のジャン＝リュック・ゴダール　わたしたちの映画 2001-2010」（2026年6月20日～、シアター・イメージフォーラム渋谷ほか全国順次公開）にて、4K修復版を国内初上映。

A feature film by French master Jean-Luc Godard, shot in the war-torn city of Sarajevo as a prayer for world peace. Based on Dante's epic poem 'The Divine Comedy,' it is structured in three parts: 'Hell,' 'Purgatory,' and 'Paradise.' Visiting Sarajevo for a lecture, Godard finds a historical crossroads in the rebuilding city, which is also a history of human conflict and massacre. Using the asymmetry between Israel and Palestine, and Judaism and Islam as examples, Godard discusses the dominant structures of conflict in the world. 'Hell' is composed of montages of war footage; 'Purgatory' depicts the interaction between Godard, invited to Sarajevo for a lecture, and a female student named Olga; and 'Paradise' shows the peaceful world Olga reaches after her death. Godard appears as himself, along with Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish and Spanish novelist Juan Goytisolo, who appear under their real names. The 4K restored version will be screened in Japan for the first time as part of the special screening series 'Jean-Luc Godard in the 21st Century: Our Films 2001-2010' (starting June 20, 2026, at Theater Image Forum Shibuya and other locations nationwide).
