フィンランドの首都ヘルシンキにある小さな食堂を舞台に、3人の日本人女性が織りなす穏やかな日常をつづったドラマ。作家・群ようこの同名小説を原作に、長編劇場デビュー作「バーバー吉野」で注目を集めた荻上直子が脚色・監督を務めた。日本人女性サチエはヘルシンキの街角に「かもめ食堂」という名の小さな食堂をオープンさせるが、客は一向にやって来ない。そんなある日、サチエはひょんなことから日本人旅行客のミドリと知り合い、店を手伝ってもらうことに。やがてサチエの店には、個性豊かな人々が次から次へとやって来るようになり……。小林聡美、片桐はいり、もたいまさこが3人の日本人女性を演じ、「過去のない男」のマルック・ペルトラが共演。

A drama depicting the peaceful daily lives of three Japanese women set in a small restaurant in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Based on the novel of the same name by author Yōko Mure, adapted and directed by Naoko Ogigami, who gained attention with her feature directorial debut "Barber Yoshino." Japanese woman Sachie opens a small restaurant called "Kamome Diner" on a street corner in Helsinki, but no customers come. One day, Sachie happens to meet a Japanese tourist named Midori and asks her to help out at the restaurant. Soon, a variety of colorful characters start coming to Sachie's shop one after another... Satomi Kobayashi, Hairi Katagiri, and Masako Motai play the three Japanese women, with Markku Peltola from "The Man Without a Past" co-starring.
