世界各地の有名オペラハウス、バレエ団の上演を映画館のスクリーンで上映する「ワールドクラシック＠シネマ2011」（全8作品）の1作。リヒャルト・シュトラウスによる名作オペラを、ドイツを代表する指揮者ティーレマンがミュンヘン・フィルを率いて演奏。南西ドイツの温泉地として有名なバーテン・バーテンで開かれる冬の音楽祭で2009年に上演された。
One of eight productions in "World Classic @ Cinema 2011," which screens performances from renowned opera houses and ballet companies around the world in movie theaters. This production features Richard Strauss's masterpiece opera, conducted by Thielemann, one of Germany's leading conductors, leading the Munich Philharmonic. It was performed in 2009 at the winter music festival in Baden-Baden, a famous spa town in southwestern Germany.
