Polish maverick Andrzej Żuławski's absurdist thriller starring Isabelle Adjani, known for "The Story of Adele H." Set in West Berlin's suburbs. Mark returns home after a work assignment to his wife Anna, but finds her strangely distant. Learning from Anna's friend Margie about another man, Mark confronts his wife, but she not only denies the affair but completely rejects him. One day, after dropping off their son Bob at school, Mark meets Helen, a teacher who is Anna's exact double. Mark eventually meets Anna's lover Heinrich, but he too doesn't know everything about Anna. Mark hires a private detective to tail Anna to investigate a mysterious "third man." Starring Sam Neill of "The Piano" as Mark. Won Best Actress at the 34th Cannes Film Festival (1981) and the 7th César Awards, among others. Theatrically released in Japan in 1988. An HD remastered version was re-released in January 2020 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its production.
