鴻池留衣による小説「本当にあった話（の話）」（「フェミニストのままじゃいられない」を改題）を、水上恒司が主演を務めて映画化。数十年前に起きた連続殺人事件をもとにした舞台劇の制作現場で主演俳優が暴走していく姿を通し、人間の闇をブラックかつシニカルに描き出す。 1999年。厳格な家庭に縛られてきた近田貴子は恋人との結婚を否定され、ある計画を企てる。その内容は、立派な経歴を持つ男性と結婚して殺害し、その人生を恋人に引き継がせ、夫婦として生きるというものだった。しかし貴子の歪んだ欲望はとどまることを知らず、殺人が繰り返されていく。貴子による「配偶者入れ替え連続殺人事件」から数十年が経った現在。事件を題材にした舞台劇が制作されることになり、夛田が主演の座を射止める。しかし夛田のもつ執着と執念は、相手役の米良や脚本家の垣内、演出家の加藤らを掌握し、すべてを破壊していく。 舞台劇の主演俳優・夛田を水上恒司が演じ、黒木華、山下美月、小池栄子、佐々木蔵之介が共演。監督は、2018年の長編デビュー作「赤色彗星倶楽部」で注目を集め、本作が商業デビュー作となる武井佑吏。
Based on Rui Konoike's novel "A True Story (About a Story)" (renamed from "Can't Stay a Feminist"), adapted into a film starring Koji Mizukami. Through the figure of a lead actor spiraling out of control at the production site of a stage play based on a serial murder case that occurred decades ago, the film depicts the darkness of humanity in a blackly comedic and cynical manner. In 1999, Takako Konda, who has been bound by a strict family, is denied permission to marry her lover and devises a plan. The plan is to marry a man with an impressive background, murder him, have her lover inherit his life, and live as a married couple. However, Takako's distorted desires know no bounds, and the murders repeat. Decades after Takako's "spouse-swapping serial murders," a stage play based on the case is set to be produced, and Tada wins the lead role. But Tada's obsession and tenacity take hold of his co-star Yora, playwright Kakiuchi, director Kato, and others, destroying everything. Koji Mizukami plays Tada, the lead actor of the stage play, with Haru Kuroki, Mizuki Yamashita, Eiko Koike, and Kuranosuke Sasaki co-starring. Directed by Yuri Takei, who drew attention with his 2018 feature debut "Red Comet Club," with this film marking his commercial debut.
