「山の焚火」「我ら山人たち」などで知られるスイスの映画作家フレディ・M・ムーラーが、子どもたちの一斉失踪という出来事を寓話的に描いた1998年製作のファンタジー。不確かな情報による集団心理の暴走や、家族間のディスコミュニケーションといった現代にも通じる社会問題を、ファンタジーの形式を通して描き出した。 ある満月の翌朝、スイス各地で10歳の子どもたちが姿を消した。男女6人ずつ、4つの言語圏から均等に、計12人。警察もメディアも有力な手がかりをつかめないまま、事件は理屈では説明のつかない事態へと発展していく。社会に潜む矛盾や不安を映し出しながら、物語は次の満月へと向かう。 監督・脚本はムーラー、撮影は「山の焚火」のピオ・コラーディ、音楽はマリオ・ベレッタが手がけた。出演はハンスペーター・ミュラー、リロ・バウアー、ベネディクト・フライターグら。1998年のモントリオール世界映画祭でグランプリを受賞。日本では2000年に公開されており、2026年にはムーラーのドキュメンタリー3部作「マウンテン・トリロジー」の日本最終上映に合わせ、35ミリフィルムで特別上映される。

A 1998 fantasy film by Swiss filmmaker Fredi M. Murer, known for 'Höhenfeuer' and 'We, the Mountain People,' which allegorically depicts the mass disappearance of children. Through the form of fantasy, it portrays social issues still relevant today, such as the runaway collective psychology fueled by uncertain information and miscommunication within families. One morning after a full moon, ten-year-old children vanish across Switzerland: six boys and six girls, evenly selected from the four language regions. With police and media unable to find solid leads, the incident develops into an inexplicable situation. Reflecting the contradictions and anxieties lurking in society, the story moves toward the next full moon. Directed and written by Murer, with cinematography by Pio Corradi ('Höhenfeuer') and music by Mario Beretta. Starring Hanspeter Müller, Lilo Bauer, and Benedikt Freitag. It won the Grand Prix at the 1998 Montreal World Film Festival. Released in Japan in 2000, it will receive a special 35mm film screening in 2026 to coincide with the final Japanese screenings of Murer's documentary trilogy, the 'Mountain Trilogy.'
