This is a hard-boiled opera—a rarity in Japan—brought to you by Rina Takeda, known as one of Japan's foremost action stars and accomplished actresses, FANTASTICS performer Reiya Seguchi, and Masato Hagiwara. Takeda plays a woman who has lived the fate of an assassin. Here Takeda unleashes her full potential, performing battle action and gun action without CG or wires. Co-starring is Seguchi, a performer in the dance-and-vocal group FANTASTICS, who takes on the role of a man tossed about by the threads of fate with Rei, played by Takeda. In addition, Hagiwara plays a lonely assassin who lives in the same underworld as Rei, and these characters fuse with the beautiful sea and nostalgic townscape of Kozushima (in the Izu Islands) to create a noir action film. The supporting cast is also luxurious, with Kyusaku Shimada, Narimi Arimori, and a special appearance by Hiroshi Fuse in key roles. Music is handled by Jaw Maran, a singer-songwriter who produces in New York and Los Angeles and excels at R&B spanning Asia including Japan, Korea, China, and Burma. What greatly enhances the film's noir action is Keiji Tsujii, who has swept through Japan's action world, delivering fight scenes too fast for the eye to follow. Director Keiji Miyano brings all these attractions together into a hard-boiled opera that fuses a story confronting one's outlook on life with action and magnificent locations. Rei (Takeda), a watch repairer, is all alone in the world, quietly living in a small seaside town. But her real profession is assassin. Taking assassination requests from Ito (Shimada), the owner of a certain bar, she is a highly skilled assassin who finishes off her targets. In the same town, Kaji (Hagiwara), a fellow assassin who spent time with her in a facility as a child, also plies the trade as a formidable rival. Rei shadows and takes down members of a group engaged in evil deeds, but one day she finds herself drawn to a man named Shunsuke (Seguchi) who visits the town. It is a fated encounter—and the arrival of a destiny in which one of them must leave this world.
