Ghost of Ueno
東京の上野公園を舞台に、1人の人間の生き方としての“失踪”に焦点を当てながら人と人とのつながりに迫った、日本・中国・韓国の合作によるヒューマンミステリー。 上野で「ゴージョー」と呼ばれていたホームレス男性が亡くなった。彼の本名も、生前に何をしていたのかも、なぜ公園のテントハウスにたどり着いたのかも知る者はいない。ソーシャルワーカーのサツキは、妻を亡くし公園で暮らすトシの助けを借り、ゴージョーが遺した日記を手がかりに彼の正体を求めてホームレスのネットワークを訪ね歩く。やがて1人の女性の存在が浮かび上がり、ゴージョーが自ら家族との縁を切ったという過去が判明する。それは、サツキの人生をも大きく揺るがす事実だった。 自らの生い立ちにとある喪失を抱えるソーシャルワーカーのサツキ役で門脇麦が主演を務め、サツキと行動をともにするホームレスのトシ役で竹中直人が共演。監督・脚本は、幼少期を日本で過ごしイギリスで映像制作を学んだワン・チイ。「スモーク」「ジョイ・ラック・クラブ」などの監督として知られるウェイン・ワンが共同脚本・企画に名を連ねた。
Set in Ueno Park in Tokyo, this human mystery, a Japan-China-Korea co-production, explores human connections while focusing on "disappearance" as a way of life. A homeless man known as "Gojo" in Ueno has died. No one knows his real name, what he did in life, or why he ended up in a tent in the park. Satsuki, a social worker, with the help of Toshi, a man living in the park after losing his wife, searches through the homeless network to uncover Gojo's identity, using his diary as a clue. Eventually, the existence of a woman comes to light, and it's revealed that Gojo had cut ties with his family. This fact also profoundly shakes Satsuki's own life. Kadowaki Mugi stars as Satsuki, a social worker carrying a certain loss from her own past, and Takenaka Naoto co-stars as Toshi, a homeless man who accompanies Satsuki. The director and screenwriter is Wang Qii, who spent his childhood in Japan and studied filmmaking in the UK. Wayne Wang, known for directing "Smoke" and "The Joy Luck Club," is credited as co-writer and project planner.
