A love story adapted into film starring Haruna Kawaguchi, based on the journal "Even If Mama Is No Longer in This World: My Diary of Life" that Nodoka Endo, who passed away at age 24, kept writing until ten days before her death. Nodoka Endo and Shoichi live in Aomori Prefecture, spending irreplaceable days together even as they sometimes clash. Then one day, Nodoka is diagnosed by a doctor with stage 4 colon cancer. Though her remaining days are limited, Shoichi vows to cherish her for the rest of his life. Nodoka wishes to meet a child with Shoichi, but that comes with an unbearably heavy choice: stopping the chemotherapy that is sustaining her life. Haruna Kawaguchi gives a passionate performance as the innocent yet strong-willed protagonist Nodoka, with Mahiro Takasugi co-starring as her devoted husband Shoichi. Also appearing are Honoka Matsumoto and Runa Nakajima as Nodoka's sisters Haruka and Yuka Kushibiki, David Ito and Satomi Kobayashi as her parents Shingo and Michiko Kushibiki, Hideyuki Kasahara as Shoichi's senior colleague Fumita Kimoto, Kurumi Shimizu as Nodoka's friend and fellow conveyor-belt sushi restaurant worker Natsuko Sawa, Akimasa Toyomoto of the comedy trio Tokyo 03 as sushi restaurant manager Shigeru Isoda, Hayato Ichinose as Haruka's boyfriend Takumi Sano, Mari Hoshino as Nodoka's attending physician Shizuka Naito, and Mochizuki Morita as Hikari Iijima, a friend who is also a cancer patient. Directed by Yuki Yamato, acclaimed for her delicate emotional expression and visual beauty in films such as Drowning Love.
