中国南部の町・潮州で暮らすイェは、静かな晩年を送っていた。ある日、借金を抱えた孫のシャオウェイは、祖母に内緒でタイへ向かう。目的は、「伝説の億万長者」と呼ばれ、50年以上も祖国へ戻っていない祖父を探し出し、金を借りることだった。 しかし、ようやく辿り着いた先で、祖父がすでにこの世を去っていたことを知る。さらに、祖母が長年にわたり手紙を通じて愛を交わしていた相手は、実はまったくの別人だった──。 シャオウェイが真相を追うにつれ、半世紀ものあいだ封印されていた家族の秘密が、少しずつ浮かび上がっていく。

Ye, living a quiet old age in the southern Chinese town of Chaozhou, receives an unexpected visit. One day, her grandson Xiaowei, burdened with debt, secretly heads to Thailand without telling his grandmother. His goal is to find his grandfather, known as a 'legendary billionaire' who hasn't returned to his homeland in over 50 years, and borrow money from him. However, upon finally arriving, he learns that his grandfather has already passed away. Furthermore, the person with whom his grandmother had been exchanging love letters for decades turns out to be someone completely different. As Xiaowei pursues the truth, the family secrets sealed away for half a century gradually come to light.
