作家・画家・音楽家・建築家など多岐にわたる活動を行う坂口恭平の生活と創作をとらえたドキュメンタリー。 1978年に熊本県で生まれた坂口恭平は、路上生活者の家を撮影した写真集「0円ハウス」や、政府と国家のあり方を問い直した「独立国家のつくりかた」など多くの著作で知られる。2011年、東日本大震災での政府の対応に不信感を抱いた坂口は故郷・熊本で“新政府”樹立を宣言し、拠点である「ゼロセンター」にて避難者の受け入れなどを実施した。2012年からは自身の電話番号を公開し、希死念慮を持つ人々からの電話相談「いのっちの電話」を続けている。また、坂口は躁鬱病の当事者であることを公言しており、時に深い鬱に潜って自らと向き合う。 本作が長編デビュー作となる新人監督・小宮雄貴が、坂口の個展を訪れ観客としてライブを撮影したことをきっかけに長期密着を開始し、熊本での日常生活や各地での展示、イベント活動を記録。制作中に坂口が深い鬱に陥り撮影が中断されながらも、彼が幼少期以前から抱えてきた根源的な“さびしさ”と向き合いながら新たな言葉を生み出していく過程を克明に映し出す。YouTubeで公開されてきた映像を、小宮監督自ら編集を手がけ劇場公開版として完成させた。

A documentary capturing the life and creative output of Kyohei Sakaguchi, a multi-disciplinary artist active as a writer, painter, musician, and architect. Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1978, Sakaguchi is known for numerous works, including *0-Yen House*, a photo book documenting the dwellings of the homeless, and *How to Build an Independent State*, which reexamines the role of government and the nation. In 2011, spurred by a lack of trust in the government’s response to the Great East Japan Earthquake, Sakaguchi declared the establishment of a "New Government" in his hometown of Kumamoto and began accepting evacuees at his base, "Zero Center." Since 2012, he has made his personal phone number public to continue "Inocchi no Denwa" (Telephone of Life), a telephone consultation service for those struggling with suicidal ideation. Sakaguchi is also open about his own experience with bipolar disorder, at times sinking into deep depression to confront himself. New director Yuki Komiya, making his feature debut, began following Sakaguchi over a long period after visiting a solo exhibition and filming a live performance as an audience member. The film records Sakaguchi's daily life in Kumamoto, as well as his exhibitions and events across the country. Even as filming was interrupted when Sakaguchi fell into a deep depression during production, the documentary vividly captures the process of him giving birth to new words while facing a fundamental "loneliness" he has carried since before his childhood. Director Komiya personally edited footage previously released on YouTube to complete this theatrical version.
