「ヒメアノ～ル」「ミッシング」の𠮷田恵輔監督が、人の痛みや常識を理解できない少年たちと、彼らに真正面から向き合い続ける大人たちを描いたドラマ。𠮷田監督自身が多感な時期に出会った非行少年や彼らを取り巻くコミュニティをモデルにオリジナル脚本を手がけた。 元半グレで元受刑者という過去を持つ西健吾は、海の見える地方都市で全寮制更生施設「みらいの里」を運営している。自身の体験を糧に、道を踏み外しかけた子どもたちに体当たりで向き合う西だったが、体罰も辞さない更生方針は教育関係者から批判されていた。ある日、彼は中学校教師の冬子から、手に負えない生徒・海斗と鑑別所帰りの悠について相談される。2人に会った西は、一瞬にして海斗の狂気を見抜く。海斗の激しい家庭内暴力に疲れ果てた母親も、息子を「みらいの里」に託すことを決める。しかし海斗は施設でも寮生とトラブルを起こして脱走し、さらに傷害事件で逮捕されてしまう。 Netflixドラマ「サンクチュアリ　聖域」の一ノ瀬ワタルが西役で主演を務め、不良少年・海斗役には新星・上坂隼人を抜てきした。中学校教師・冬子役で夏帆、海斗の両親役で篠原篤と占部房子、海斗の不良仲間・悠役で和田庵、施設の寮生役で山﨑七海、高田万作が共演。

Directed by Keisuke Yoshida of "Himeanole" and "Missing," this drama portrays boys who cannot understand pain or common sense, and the adults who continue to confront them head-on. Yoshida wrote the original script based on the juvenile delinquents he encountered during his own sensitive adolescence and the community surrounding them. Nishiken Go, a former half-gray area gangster and ex-convict, runs a full-time residential rehabilitation facility called "Mirai no Sato" in a coastal provincial town. Drawing on his own experiences, Nishiken tackles troubled children with all his might, but his rehabilitation methods, which do not shy away from corporal punishment, are criticized by educators. One day, a middle school teacher named Fuyuko consults him about an uncontrollable student, Kaito, and Yu, who has just been released from a juvenile detention center. Meeting the two, Nishiken instantly sees through Kaito's madness. Kaito's mother, exhausted by his severe domestic violence, decides to entrust her son to "Mirai no Sato." However, Kaito causes trouble with the other residents, escapes, and is arrested for assault. Wataru Ichinose of the Netflix drama "Sanctuary" stars as Nishiken, while the newcomer Hayato Uesaka is cast as the delinquent boy Kaito. Kaho plays middle school teacher Fuyuko, Atsushi Shinohara and Fusako Urabe play Kaito's parents, Iori Wada plays Kaito's delinquent friend Yu, and Nanami Yamazaki and Mansaku Takada play the facility's residents.
