This is Jean-Luc Godard's fourth feature film, following "A Woman Is a Woman," and was shot starring Anna Karina, his partner both publicly and privately. Nana, who decides to part ways with her husband after discussing life with him at a café in Paris, falls into a life where she cannot even pay her rent. She begins to proposition men on the street and engage in prostitution. Eventually, Nana becomes numb to having relations with strangers. The music was handled by Michel Legrand, the renowned composer of "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and other films.
