日本最古の物語「竹取物語」のかぐや姫と、現代エンタテインメントである音楽ライブの要素を融合し、豪華ボカロPたちの楽曲が物語を彩るオリジナルの音楽アニメーション。 バイトと学業の両立で多忙な日々を送る17歳の女子高生・酒寄彩葉にとって、インターネット上の仮想空間「ツクヨミ」の管理人であり大人気ライバー（配信者）でもある月見ヤチヨの配信を見ることは、日々の癒やしだった。ある日の帰り道、彩葉は七色に光り輝くゲーミング電柱の中から現れた、かわいらしい赤ちゃんと出会う。放っておけず連れ帰るが、赤ちゃんは瞬く間に彩葉と同い年ほどの少女へと成長する。まるでかぐや姫のようなその少女・かぐやのお願いで、彩葉は彼女のツクヨミでのライバー活動を手伝うことになる。彩葉がプロデューサーとして音楽を作り、かぐやが歌うことで2人は少しずつ打ち解けていく。しかし、そんな彼女たちのもとに、かぐやを月へと連れ戻そうとする不穏な影が忍び寄っていた。 「呪術廻戦」（第1期）や「チェンソーマン」「うる星やつら」などのオープニング映像演出で知られるアニメーションクリエイター・山下清悟が長編初監督を務め、ryo(supercell）、kz（livetune）、40mP、HoneyWorks、Aqu3ra、yuigotら名だたるボカロPたちが楽曲を提供。「ペンギン・ハイウェイ」「泣きたい私は猫をかぶる」のスタジオコロリドと、山下監督率いるスタジオクロマトが共同でアニメーション制作を担当した。Netflixで2026年1月22日から配信。好評を受けて2026年2月20日から劇場公開。

An original musical animation that fuses the story of Princess Kaguya from Japan's oldest tale, "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter," with elements of modern entertainment music live performances, brought to life by songs from a stellar lineup of Vocaloid producers. For 17-year-old high school girl Iroha Sakayori, who leads a busy life balancing part-time work and studies, watching the streams of Tsukuyomi Yachiyo—the administrator of the online virtual space "Tsukuyomi" and a hugely popular liver (streamer)—was her daily comfort. One day on her way home, Iroha encounters a cute baby who emerges from a gaming utility pole glowing in seven colors. Unable to leave the baby alone, she takes it home, but the baby rapidly grows into a girl about the same age as Iroha. At the request of this girl, Kaguya—who seems just like Princess Kaguya—Iroha agrees to help with her liver activities on Tsukuyomi. As Iroha produces music as a producer and Kaguya sings, the two gradually grow closer. However, an ominous shadow creeps toward them, seeking to take Kaguya back to the moon. Animation creator Kiyotaka Yamashita, known for opening sequence direction on "Jujutsu Kaisen" (Season 1), "Chainsaw Man," and "Urusei Yatsura," makes his feature directorial debut, with songs provided by renowned Vocaloid producers including ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot. Animation production is handled jointly by Studio Colorido ("Penguin Highway," "A Whisker Away") and Yamashita's Studio Chromato. Streaming on Netflix from January 22, 2026. Following its positive reception, it will be released theatrically from February 20, 2026.
