「怪物」「万引き家族」の是枝裕和監督が、綾瀬はるかとお笑いコンビ「千鳥」の大悟を主演に迎え、亡き息子の姿をしたヒューマノイドを迎え入れた夫婦の物語をオリジナル脚本で描いた長編映画。 少し先の未来。建築家の甲本音々とその夫で工務店の2代目社長を務める健介は、2年前に亡くした息子・翔の姿をしたヒューマノイドを迎え入れることになる。ヒューマノイドが到着した日、翔と同じ笑顔と声をした彼を音々が喜んで迎える一方で、健介は戸惑いを隠しきれず硬い表情を浮かべる。家族の時間は少しずつ動き出すが、やがて予期せぬ事態が起こり、夫婦が息子の死に対してそれぞれ抱えていた想いがあらわになっていく。そんな中、ヒューマノイドの翔はひそかにヒューマノイドの仲間たちとつながりはじめる。 夫婦の亡き息子・翔とその姿をしたヒューマノイド役には、オーディションで200人以上の中から選ばれた桒木里夢を抜てき。音々の妹・小滝亜利寿役で清野菜名、健介が経営する工務店タマケンの従業員・日高玄役で寛一郎、音々の母・西村信代役で余貴美子、タマケンの熟練工・山縣昭男役で田中泯が共演。タイトルの「箱の中の羊」は、サン＝テグジュペリの名作小説「星の王子さま」の1節に由来する。2026年・第79回カンヌ国際映画祭コンペティション部門出品。

A feature film directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda ("Monster", "Shoplifters"), starring Haruka Ayase and Daigo (from the comedy duo "Chidori"), based on an original script about a couple who welcome a humanoid in the form of their deceased son. Set in the near future. Architect Kōmoto Oto and her husband Kensuke, the second-generation president of a construction company, take in a humanoid resembling their son Sho, who died two years ago. On the day the humanoid arrives, Oto joyfully welcomes him with Sho's same smile and voice, while Kensuke hides his bewilderment behind a stiff expression. Family time gradually begins, but an unexpected event occurs, revealing the couple's hidden feelings about their son's death. Meanwhile, the humanoid Sho secretly starts connecting with other humanoids. The role of the deceased son Sho and his humanoid counterpart is played by Kuwaki Rito, chosen from over 200 auditionees. Kiyono Yasho plays Oto's younger sister Kotaki Arisu; Kanichiro plays Nikawa Gen, an employee at Kensuke's construction company Tamaken; Yo Kimiko plays Oto's mother Nishimura Nobuyo; and Tanaka Min plays Yamagata Akio, a skilled worker at Tamaken. The title "The Sheep in the Box" is derived from a passage in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic novel "The Little Prince". The film was selected for the Competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in 2026.
