One Last Throw
阪神タイガースにドラフト2位で入団し、将来を期待されながらも、21歳で脳腫瘍を発症して引退を余儀なくされた元プロ野球選手・横田慎太郎の軌跡を、松谷鷹也と鈴木京香の主演で映画化。 2013年のドラフト会議で、阪神タイガースから2位指名を受けた18歳の横田慎太郎。16年の開幕戦では一軍のスタメンに抜てきされ、初ヒットを記録するなど、誰もがその将来に大きな期待を寄せていた。ところが間もなく、慎太郎の視界にボールが二重に見えるという異変が生じる。医師の診断は脳腫瘍という、21歳の若者には過酷なものだった。それでも慎太郎は、家族や恩師、チームメイトら多くの人々に支えられながら、病との闘いに立ち向かっていく。19年9月の引退試合では、奇跡のバックホームを披露し、スタジアムを感動に包んだ。しかし、慎太郎のドラマはそこで終わりではなかった。 横田役を元高校球児でもある松谷、母・まなみ役を鈴木がそれぞれ演じる。監督は「20歳のソウル」の秋山純。
This film traces the life of former professional baseball player Shintaro Yokota, who was drafted second by the Hanshin Tigers and expected to have a bright future, but was forced to retire at age 21 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. It stars Taya Matsutani and Kyoka Suzuki. In the 2013 draft, 18-year-old Shintaro Yokota was selected second by the Hanshin Tigers. In the opening game of 2016, he was chosen as a starter for the first team and recorded his first hit, with everyone holding great expectations for his future. However, soon after, Shintaro began experiencing double vision. The doctor's diagnosis was a brain tumor, a harsh reality for a 21-year-old. Nevertheless, supported by his family, mentors, and teammates, Shintaro fought against his illness. At his retirement game in September 2019, he performed a miraculous throw home, moving the stadium to tears. But Shintaro's story didn't end there. Matsutani, a former high school baseball player, plays Yokota, and Suzuki plays his mother, Manami. The director is Jun Akiyama of "20 Years Old Soul."
