A documentary tracing the final three and a half years of world-renowned musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away in March 2023. Based on the 2024 NHK documentary "Last Days: Ryuichi Sakamoto's Final Days," which garnered a significant public response, this film version incorporates new elements such as unfinished music and footage. Throughout his career, Sakamoto was a multifaceted artist who transcended boundaries between music, art, film, and literature. Centered on his personal diaries—where he meticulously recorded the sights and sounds of his life—and featuring rare private footage and portraits provided with the full cooperation of his family, the film reflects on his battle with cancer and the creative activities he pursued until the very end. Through casual daily musings, his struggles with mortality, and profound words on the nature of music, the film explores how this peerless musician faced the end of his life and what he sought to leave behind. It captures Sakamoto’s final days and his unwavering passion for creating the ideal sound he sought throughout his life, set against the beautiful natural sounds and landscapes that captivated him in his later years. Dancer and actor Min Tanaka, a close friend of Sakamoto, performs the readings of the diary entries.
