イギリスの国立劇場ロイヤル・ナショナル・シアターが厳選した名舞台を映像化し、映画館のスクリーンで上映する「ナショナル・シアター・ライブ」の1作。ロンドンのウエスト・エンドにある劇場「@sohoplace」で、フィン・デン・ハルトグの演出により上演されたデビッド・アイアランド作の「フィフス・ステップ」を収録する。 アルコール依存症の更生プログラム「12のステップ」に長年取り組んできたジェームスは、新入りのルカの世話役となる。2人はブラックコーヒーを飲み、互いの物語を語り合い、共通の経験を通じて壊れやすい友情を築いていく。しかし、ルカが更生プログラムの第5のステップである「告白の瞬間」に近づくにつれ、危険な真実が浮かび上がる。それは、2人の回復の糧となっていた「信頼」そのものを脅かすものだった。 出演は、映画「ダンケルク」やドラマシリーズ「窓際のスパイ」で知られるジャック・ロウデンと、ドラマ「SHERLOCK シャーロック」、映画「ホビット」「ブラックパンサー」シリーズのマーティン・フリーマン。

This recording captures 'The Fifth Step' by David Ireland, directed by Finn den Hartog, performed at the @sohoplace theatre in London's West End. James, who has long worked on the '12 Steps' alcohol recovery program, becomes the sponsor for newcomer Luca. They drink black coffee, share their stories, and build a fragile friendship through shared experiences. But as Luca approaches the fifth step, the 'moment of confession,' a dangerous truth emerges that threatens the very 'trust' that has been the foundation of both their recoveries.
