A documentary depicting the city of Yokohama—where diverse cultures and people have come and gone since its port opened—its history, and the community activities and bonds of the people who live there. Wasaburo Sugishima, born and raised in Motomachi, Naka-ku, Yokohama, worked in the development and design of prime movers at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Yokohama Shipyard, and now at 97 (96 at the time of filming) is involved in social activities such as the Rotary Club and as an officer of a local shrine, while also serving as a storyteller who speaks about the Great Yokohama Air Raid. Sugishima's rich experience and universal insights, having contributed for many years to the reconstruction and development of Yokohama after the Great Air Raid, connect to today's civic activities across generations and continue to guide Yokohama toward becoming a vibrant city. Through the narration of Sugishima, a legendary figure for Yokohama, the film introduces the transformations of the city before and after the war, and the activities of people working on creating local appeal and solving problems. By unraveling the history of Yokohama, where a culture of cross-cultural understanding and acceptance of diversity has taken root, and overlaying it with the image of Yokohama transformed into a vibrant city through the cooperation of diverse people, the film seeks clues toward realizing a society where everyone can participate in their own way. Directed by Toshifumi Furusawa, who has served as producer on films such as "The Idiot" and "Dreaming of Sleeping."
