日本におけるピアカウンセリングのパイオニアのひとりである安積遊歩（あさかゆうほ）さんの軌跡と現在を追ったドキュメンタリー。 1956年、福島県福島市に生まれた安積遊歩さん。骨が弱いという特徴を持つ彼女は、幼い頃から学びをあきらめさせられ、障がいや性別によって差別し排除しようとする社会に憤りを抱えてきた。ずっと自分の居場所を探してきた遊歩さんは、脳性まひ者の当事者団体「福島県青い芝の会」とのつながりや、アメリカ留学中に出会った自立生活運動やフェミニズムを糧に、日本初の自立生活センターの設立に尽力。国際会議にも参加し、優生保護法を変えるきっかけをつくった。 映画では、自由のために突き進んできた遊歩さんの姿を追いながら、激しくぶつかり合う父と遊歩さんの間で揺れ動いてきた妹の愛子さんや、遊歩さんと同じ特徴を持って生まれ、海外で障がいのある人の権利向上を図る研究所に勤めながら大学院に通う娘の宇宙さん、自由な関係を築きながら日々をともにする若い介助者たちの姿も映し出す。「どうすればよかったか？」のプロデューサーを務めた淺野由美子が初メガホンをとり、同作の監督を務めた藤野知明が撮影・編集・プロデューサーを担当。

A documentary tracing the journey and present life of Yuho Asaka, one of Japan's pioneers of peer counseling. Born in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture in 1956, Yuho Asaka has a condition characterized by brittle bones. From a young age, she was forced to give up on learning and grew angry at a society that discriminates and excludes based on disability and gender. Always searching for her place in the world, Asaka connected with the cerebral palsy activist group "Fukushima Prefecture Aoi Shiba no Kai" and, drawing on the independent living movement and feminism she encountered while studying in the U.S., helped establish Japan's first independent living center. She also participated in international conferences and helped spark changes to the Eugenic Protection Law. The film follows Asaka's relentless pursuit of freedom, while also depicting her sister Aiko, who was caught in the turbulent relationship between their father and Yuho; her daughter Sora, who was born with the same condition and works at an overseas institute advocating for the rights of people with disabilities while attending graduate school; and the young caregivers who share daily life with her in a free-spirited relationship. Yumiko Asano, producer of "What Could Have Been?," makes her directorial debut, with Tomoaki Fujino, director of that same film, handling cinematography, editing, and production.
