2024年・第96回アカデミー賞で長編ドキュメンタリー賞を受賞した「マリウポリの20日間」のミスティスラフ・チェルノフ監督が、ロシアによるウクライナ侵攻の最前線をとらえたドキュメンタリー。 2023年、チェルノフ監督はウクライナ軍第3強襲旅団の小隊に同行し、ロシア軍に占領されたアンドリーウカ村の奪還作戦を記録する。兵士たちは2000メートル先に位置するアンドリーウカ村を目指し、死と隣り合わせの極限の道のりを、身を潜めながら前進していく。チェルノフ監督は兵士たちと行動を共にしながら戦場に身を置き、兵士のヘルメットカメラやドローンを中心に撮影する。冗談を交わし、家族や未来について語り、その直後に命を落としていく若い兵士たち。銃を手にする以前はそれぞれの日常を生きていたひとりの人間としての彼らの姿を見つめるとともに、激しい銃撃戦やドローンによる襲撃、絶え間なく降り注ぐ砲弾や荒廃した大地に横たわる戦死体など、ニュース映像や数字だけでは決して伝わらない戦場の現実を生々しく映し出す。 2025年・第41回サンダンス映画祭のワールドシネマ・ドキュメンタリー部門にて監督賞を受賞。

A documentary by director Mstyslav Chernov, who won the Best Documentary Feature Film award at the 96th Academy Awards in 2024 for "20 Days in Mariupol," capturing the front lines of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In 2023, director Chernov accompanies a platoon of the Ukrainian 3rd Assault Brigade, documenting their operation to recapture the village of Andriivka, which had been occupied by Russian forces. The soldiers aim for the village of Andriivka, located 2000 meters away, advancing while concealing themselves on a journey to the brink of death. Chernov embeds himself on the battlefield alongside the soldiers, filming primarily with the soldiers' helmet cameras and drones. Young soldiers who joke, talk about their families and futures, and then lose their lives moments later. The film gazes upon them as individual human beings who lived their own daily lives before taking up arms, while also vividly depicting the reality of war that news footage and numbers alone can never convey: intense firefights, drone attacks, incessant shelling, and the war dead lying across the devastated land. Won the Directing Award in the World Cinema Documentary category at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
