亡き母がビジュアル系バンドを好きだったことを知った少女が、楽曲やビジュアル系カルチャーとの出会いを通して自己を見つめ、成長していく姿を描いた青春ドラマ。 母子家庭で育った高校生のマリアは母を突然亡くし、遺品整理中に母が若い頃に収集していたCDと写真と日記、そして自分と同じ「MARIA」と名づけられた再生できないデモテープを見つける。母の秘密を知るためライブハウスに足を運んだマリアは、そこでビジュアル系と呼ばれる音楽と出合う。 「【推しの子】」「遺書、公開。」などに出演するモデル・俳優の菊地姫奈が映画単独初主演を務め、元ビジュアル系バンドマン・カナタ役で藤重政孝、マリアの母の友人・響子役でサヘル・ローズ、マリアの祖母・幹枝役で藤田朋子が共演。「大和（カリフォルニア）」「VIDEOPHOBIA」の宮崎大祐監督がメガホンをとった。ビジュアル系バンドの聖地とされるライブハウス「目黒鹿鳴館」で撮影が行われたほか、劇中には1990年代のビジュアル系バンドのCDやポスター、バンギャルたちの姿も登場。

A youth drama about a girl who, after learning her late mother loved visual kei bands, discovers herself and grows through encounters with music and visual kei culture. Maria, a high school student raised by a single mother, suddenly loses her mother. While sorting through her belongings, she finds CDs, photos, and a diary from her mother's youth, along with an unplayable demo tape named 'MARIA'—the same as her own name. To uncover her mother's secrets, Maria visits a live house and encounters visual kei music. Hina Kikuchi, a model and actor known for 'Oshi no Ko' and 'The Suicide Note,' stars in her first solo lead film role. Masataka Fujishige co-stars as Kanata, a former visual kei musician; Sahel Rosa as Kyoko, Maria's mother's friend; and Tomoko Fujita as Miki, Maria's grandmother. Directed by Daisuke Miyazaki ('Yamato (California),' 'VIDEOPHOBIA'). Filmed at the iconic live house 'Meguro Rokumeikan,' a mecca for visual kei bands, the film also features 1990s visual kei CDs, posters, and fans (bangyaru).
