パリのランドマーク「新凱旋門」誕生の舞台裏で国家プロジェクトに翻弄された建築家の数奇な運命を、実話をもとに描いたヒューマンドラマ。ジャーナリストのロランス・コセによる著書「新凱旋門物語　ラ・グランダルシュ」を原作に、「ブレスレット　鏡の中の私」のステファン・ドゥムースティエが監督・脚本を手がけた。 1983年。ミッテランは大統領就任後初の大規模プロジェクトとして、フランス革命200周年を祝う新モニュメントの建設を構想していた。国際設計コンペで選ばれたのは、キューブのように角張ったアーチ型の建物と、そのふもとに雲のような屋根が浮かぶ大胆なプランで、設計者はヨハン・オットー・フォン・スプレッケルセンという無名のデンマーク人建築家だった。スプレッケルセンはフランスで一躍時の人となるが、完璧を追い求める彼の前に、予算や政治的圧力、周囲の思惑が次々と立ちはだかる。 「ザ・スクエア　思いやりの聖域」のクレス・バングが主人公スプレッケルセンを演じ、彼と協働するフランス人建築家アンドリュー役で「落下の解剖学」のスワン・アルロー、彼らの間を立ち回る官僚シュビロン役で俳優としても活動する映画監督グザビエ・ドランが共演。2025年・第78回カンヌ国際映画祭「ある視点」部門出品。

In 1983 Paris, President Mitterrand envisioned a new monument to celebrate the bicentennial of the French Revolution. The international design competition selected the unknown Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen. His bold plan—a cube-shaped arch of Italian Carrara marble with a cloud-like roof floating at its base—captured the president's heart and made him an overnight sensation. However, budget constraints, political pressure, and the expectations of those around him stood in the way of his pursuit of perfection. Should he stick to his ideals or compromise with reality? Caught in the vortex of a massive project, what "certain decision" will one architect make?
