「6才のボクが、大人になるまで。」「ビフォア」シリーズのリチャード・リンクレイター監督が、1950年代後半のフランスで起きた革新的な映画運動・ヌーベルバーグを代表する作品として知られるジャン＝リュック・ゴダール監督作「勝手にしやがれ」製作の舞台裏を映画化。映画史に革命を起こした若者たちの姿を、フランス映画界を代表する映画作家たちとの活気ある交流とともに描き出す。 1959年、フランス。映画批評誌「カイエ・デュ・シネマ」で執筆活動をしていた28歳のジャン＝リュック・ゴダールは、フランスの若手俳優ジャン＝ポール・ベルモンドとアメリカの人気女優ジーン・セバーグを主演に迎えた長編監督デビュー作「勝手にしやがれ」の制作を開始する。ゴダールの斬新で自由奔放な撮影手法に周囲は振り回されるが、映画づくりへの情熱を共有した撮影現場は活気に満ちていく。 「勝手にしやがれ」のスタイルにならい、アカデミー比率（1:1.37）の白黒映像、全編ほぼフランス語で、キャストもジーン・セバーグ役のゾーイ・ドゥイッチ以外はほぼ無名の俳優陣で固めた。主人公ゴダール役には、写真家やモデルとして活動していたギョーム・マルベックを起用。2025年・第78回カンヌ国際映画祭コンペティション部門出品。

From the director of "Boyhood" and the "Before" series, Richard Linklater, comes a film that goes behind the scenes of Jean-Luc Godard's "Breathless"—a landmark work of the French New Wave, the revolutionary film movement that emerged in the late 1950s. It depicts the young people who sparked a revolution in film history, along with their vibrant interactions with the leading filmmakers of French cinema. In 1959, France. Jean-Luc Godard, a 28-year-old critic writing for the film magazine "Cahiers du Cinéma," begins production on his feature directorial debut, "Breathless," starring French up-and-coming actor Jean-Paul Belmondo and American starlet Jean Seberg. Those around him are thrown off by Godard's innovative and freewheeling shooting methods, but the set, fueled by a shared passion for filmmaking, is filled with energy. Following the style of "Breathless," the film is shot in black and white in the Academy ratio (1:1.37), almost entirely in French, and the cast, except for Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, is made up of mostly unknown actors. Guillaume Marbeck, who worked as a photographer and model, was cast as the protagonist Godard. The film was selected for the Competition section of the 78th Cannes Film Festival in 2025.
