Set in Mukojima, Tokyo, during the Taisho era. Siblings Gen and Aoiro live with their writer father and stepmother. Gen takes care of Aoiro, covering for their sick stepmother, but Aoiro starts hanging out with a bad crowd. They protect each other at times and have big fights at others, living together as siblings, until Aoiro falls ill with tuberculosis.
