東映動画の10周年作品として藪下泰次が演出、大工原章が作画監督を務めた。英雄叙事詩「ベーオウルフ」が原案だが、ジャックは自動車を乗り回し、魔女はヘリコプターで登場、魔女の城で悪魔にされた仲間を取り戻すため奮闘する。宇野誠一郎の音楽も楽しく、毎日映画コンクール音楽賞を受賞している。

Directed by Yasuji Yabushita with animation direction by Akira Daikuhara for Toei Animation's 10th anniversary film. Based on the heroic epic 'Beowulf,' this version features Jack driving a car, a witch arriving by helicopter, and a struggle to rescue comrades turned into demons in the witch's castle. Seiichiro Uno's cheerful music won the Mainichi Film Concours Music Award.
