A Japan-Philippines co-produced drama set in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, over a decade after the Great East Japan Earthquake, portraying the emotional recovery and identity rebirth of two half-sisters of different cultures and races. Reina Hashimoto, a 20-year-old art student living in Rikuzentakata, suddenly loses her beloved father and is overwhelmed with grief. Then appears Ella, her half-sister seven years older, who arrives from the Philippines. Reina is confused and unable to understand why Ella, who has been out of contact for so long, suddenly shows up after their father's death. The sisters, differing in culture and race, repeatedly clash and seek understanding as they confront their emotional wounds and reconsider their feelings toward family and homeland. Starring Arisa Nakano as Reina, who won the Best Actress award at the 48th Gawad Urian Awards in the Philippines—the first foreign actor to do so—and Filipino actor Gabby Padilla as her sister Ella. The cast also includes Reiko Kataoka, Cheryl Ichikawa, Satoshi Nikaido, and Sho Yakumaru. Directed and written by Filipino filmmaker Jaime Pacena II, who has visited the Tohoku region as a visual artist since 2010 and maintained ties with local communities, in his feature-length directorial debut.
