安藤絢子（アン）は学校には馴染めない、ひとりぼっちの中学生。薄暗い立ち入り禁止の階段が唯一の居場所だった。 そんなある日、不思議な商店で魔法の万華鏡を貰う。それを覗くと立入禁止の扉が開きその先の屋上には同じ万華鏡を持った生徒、アイナがいた。 二人はすぐに仲良くなり夢のような夏休みを送るのだが、屋上には「昔飛び降り自殺した生徒の幽霊が出る」という噂があった。 その幽霊がアイナなのではないかと疑念を抱きながらもお互いにとってかけがえのない存在になっていくのだが・・・

Ayako Ando (Ann) is a lonely middle school student who doesn't fit in at school. Her only refuge is a dim, off-limits staircase. One day, she receives a magical kaleidoscope from a mysterious shop. When she looks into it, a forbidden door opens, and on the rooftop beyond, she finds another student, Aina, who also has the same kaleidoscope. The two quickly become friends and spend a dreamlike summer vacation together. However, there is a rumor that the ghost of a student who once jumped to their death haunts the rooftop. Despite harboring suspicions that Aina might be that ghost, they become irreplaceable to each other...
