A comedy directed and written by the Coen brothers (Joel and Ethan), who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for 'Fargo,' about a man mistaken for a millionaire with the same name and caught up in a kidnapping plot. Los Angeles, 1991. The Dude, an unemployed middle-aged man living a carefree, day-to-day existence, is mistaken for millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski and threatened by two thugs for a debt. Angered, the Dude barges into Lebowski's mansion to demand compensation but is turned away. A few days later, summoned by Lebowski, the Dude is asked to deliver the ransom for Lebowski's kidnapped wife, Bunny. The cast features an ensemble of distinctive actors, including Jeff Bridges in the lead role, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi.
