伝説的ロックバンド「ヴェルヴェット・アンダーグラウンド」のルー・リードとジョン・ケイルが1989年に行ったアンディ・ウォーホル追悼ライブを記録したドキュメンタリー。 バンドの結成にも大きく関わったウォーホルは、バンドの両雄リードとケイルにとって圧倒的なメンターであり愛憎ともなう友人でもあった。リードとケイルは音楽的な方向性の違いにより決別したが、ウォーホルの死から3年後の1989年、追悼ライブで21年ぶりに共演を果たす。 ウォーホル、リード、ケイルの悔恨と情愛が交錯した唯一無二のパフォーマンスを、「キャロル」などの名撮影監督エドワード・ラックマンが記録。ラックマン監督がトッド・ヘインズ監督作「ヴェルヴェット・アンダーグラウンド」の撮影を進める過程で発見されたオリジナル16ミリネガをもとに4Kで復元した。

A documentary recording the 1989 Andy Warhol tribute concert by Lou Reed and John Cale of the legendary rock band The Velvet Underground. Warhol, who was deeply involved in the band's formation, was an overwhelming mentor and a friend of both love and hate for the band's two leading figures, Reed and Cale. Reed and Cale had parted ways due to differences in musical direction, but three years after Warhol's death, in 1989, they reunited for the first time in 21 years at the tribute concert. The one-of-a-kind performance, where regret and affection for Warhol, Reed, and Cale intersect, was captured by renowned cinematographer Edward Lachman, known for films like "Carol." The film was restored in 4K from the original 16mm negative discovered by director Lachman during the production of Todd Haynes' "The Velvet Underground."
