Swedish director Joachim Trier, who gained international attention with "The Worst Person in the World," crafts a family drama centered on the tangled bonds of love and hate inherent in the parent-child relationship. Nora, an actress thriving in Oslo, and her sister Agnes, who chose family life and lives quietly with her husband and son. One day, their father Gustav, a film director who abandoned the family when they were young and has been out of contact for years, reappears and offers Nora the lead role in his first autobiographical film in 15 years. Filled with anger and disappointment toward her father, Nora firmly refuses, and soon the popular young American actress Rachel is cast instead. When Nora learns that the film will be shot at the family's old home, a place filled with memories, uncontrollable emotions surge within her once again. Renate Reinsve, who also starred in "The Worst Person in the World," plays the protagonist Nora, with acclaimed actor Stellan Skarsgård as her father Gustav. Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas plays sister Agnes, and Elle Fanning plays the popular American actress Rachel. The film won the Grand Prix at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in 2025. At the 98th Academy Awards, it received nine nominations across eight categories, including Best Picture, and won the award for Best International Feature Film.
