血を売る商売の男と愚連隊の話をモチーフに、助監督石堂淑朗との共同脚本を映画化。舞台は大阪のドヤ街。愚連隊信栄会の会長信は、大きな縄張りをもつ大浜組に対抗すべく、厳しい規律で子分たちを使い、会を強大なものにしようともくろんでいた。しかし、小遣い銭欲しさから、ヤスたちは信の目を盗んで、日雇いたちから血を採る商売を手伝う……。非人間的な状況の中で非人間的に生きる人間たちを凝視する大島渚監督の第3作。

A striking debut film by Kayoko Moeka, beloved by the Shochiku Nouvelle Vague. Set in Osaka's Kamagasaki, this masterpiece of human drama portrays people with no choice but to live at the bottom of society.
