幼少期に受けた性被害により心に深い傷を負った2人の少年の行く末を描いた青春ドラマ。スコット・ハイムが自身の経験を基に執筆した小説「謎めいた肌」を原作に、「ドゥーム・ジェネレーション」のグレッグ・アラキが監督・脚本を手がけた。 カンザス州の田舎町ハッチンソン。1981年の夏、リトルリーグのチームメイトである8歳のブライアンとニールは、子どもたちへの性加害を常習的に行っていたコーチにより人生を大きく狂わされる。精神的ショックから記憶を失い後遺症にさいなまれるブライアンは、自分は宇宙人に誘拐されて記憶を失ったのだと思い込む。一方のニールは、コーチと自分の間には“愛”があったと信じ、彼の影を追い求めて年上の男を相手に身体を売って暮らすように。空白の記憶を取り戻そうとするブライアンは、繰り返し夢に現れる少年がニールであることを突き止めるが……。 ブレイク前のジョセフ・ゴードン＝レビットがニール、後に「ブルータリスト」など映画監督としても活躍するブラディ・コーベットがブライアンを演じた。日本では長らく劇場未公開のままだったが、2025年4月に劇場初公開。

A youth drama depicting the fates of two boys deeply scarred by childhood sexual abuse. Based on the novel "Mysterious Skin" by Scott Heim, which draws from his own experiences, the film was directed and written by Gregg Araki of "The Doom Generation." In the small Kansas town of Hutchinson. In the summer of 1981, 8-year-old Brian and Neil, teammates on a Little League team, have their lives drastically warped by their coach, who habitually sexually abuses children. Brian, suffering from psychological shock, loses his memory and is plagued by aftereffects, becoming convinced he was abducted by aliens. Neil, on the other hand, believes there was "love" between him and the coach, and spends his life selling his body to older men while searching for a shadow of the coach. Brian, trying to recover his lost memories, discovers that the boy who repeatedly appears in his dreams is Neil... A pre-breakout Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Neil, and Brady Corbet, who later became a director known for "The Brutalist," plays Brian. The film was not released in Japanese theaters for a long time, finally premiering in April 2025.
