卒業式を迎えた子どもたちは、仲間と知恵を出し合って学ぶことの喜びを語り、新しい未来へ向けて歩み出す。方言や学力差、家庭環境の違いを乗り越え、教師や保護者とともに成長する姿に、戦後民主教育の理念が息づく。地域に根ざした学校教育の日常を見つめながら、人々の連帯のなかに社会への希望を見出し続けた木村の理想を体現する重要作である。
The children, having reached their graduation ceremony, speak of the joy of learning by pooling their wisdom with their peers, and set out toward a new future. In their overcoming of differences in dialect, academic ability, and family environment, and in their growth together with teachers and parents, the ideals of postwar democratic education live on. This is an important work that embodies Kimura's ideals—gazing at the everyday reality of community-rooted schooling while continually finding hope for society in people's solidarity.
