A musical adventure that is a live-action adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated feature 'Moana', which follows the journey of a young girl named Moana who shares a special bond with the ocean as she sets out on an adventure to save the world. On the mystical South Pacific island of Motunui, 16-year-old Moana, who loves the ocean and her people more than anyone and was raised as the pride of her family, is told by her grandmother Tala the truth of the legend passed down on the island and her destiny. With an evil darkness approaching, Moana, entrusted with a mission as 'the one chosen by the ocean', sets sail on a small canoe across the vast ocean to find the legendary hero Maui and return the heart of the goddess Te Fiti. The role of Moana is played by newcomer Australian actress Catherine Laga'aia, who showcases a powerful singing voice. The role of the demigod hero Maui is reprised by Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the same role in the animated version. Directed by Thomas Kail, who brought the acclaimed Broadway musical 'Hamilton' to the screen, the film uses the immersive visuals unique to live-action cinema and exquisite music to tell the story.
