ビリー・ワイルダーが「第十七捕虜収容所」に続きヒット舞台劇を映画化した、セクシーコメディ。蒸し暑いニューヨークのアパート。妻子がバカンスに出かけたため、一時の独身気分を満喫しているリチャードのもとに、上の階に住む美女がクーラーを求めてやってくる。地下鉄の通風口に立ったマリリン・モンローの白いスカートが巻き上げられるシーンはあまりに有名。舞台でも主演を務めたトム・イーウェルが、映画版でもリチャードを演じている。

A sexy comedy adapted by Billy Wilder from a hit stage play, following "Stalag 17." In a sweltering New York apartment, Richard is enjoying a temporary bachelor lifestyle while his wife and children are on vacation. A beautiful woman from the upstairs apartment comes down seeking air conditioning. The scene of Marilyn Monroe's white skirt billowing up as she stands over a subway grate is famously iconic. Tom Ewell, who also played the lead role on stage, reprises the role of Richard in the film version.
