階間騒音とカルト宗教を題材に、上階住人による騒音の正体を突き止めようと奔走する女性作家の運命を描いた韓国発のサスペンススリラー。 アパートの401号室に住む作家志望のウンスは、数々の執筆コンテストに応募するも落選続きの日々を送っていた。その一方で、彼女は1カ月ほど前から、上階の501号室から聞こえてくる耐え難いほどの騒音に悩まされている。この状況を自身の作品の題材にしようと考えたウンスは、友人のチソンとともに、501号室の住人である中年男性ホギョンの観察を開始。度を越した尾行により観察していることをホギョンに気づかれながらも、作品執筆のため執拗に彼を追い続ける。やがてウンスは騒音の裏に隠された衝撃的な真実にたどり着くが、同時に彼女自身も危険な状況へと追い詰められていく。 これまで人間の内面を率直に描く物語を多く手がけてきたキム・ジョンウク監督が、日常に潜む些細なトラブルから生まれる心理的不安を緊迫感たっぷりに描き出す。韓国のアイドルグループ「T-ARA」の元メンバーとして知られるリュ・ファヨンが映画初主演を務め、執筆に執着するあまり現実と妄想の境界が曖昧になっていく作家ウンスを熱演。Netflixドラマ「イカゲーム」などのベテラン俳優パク・ジヌが、謎めいた上階住人ホギョンを演じた。

A Korean suspense thriller about floor noise and a cult religion, depicting the fate of a female writer who strives to uncover the truth behind the noise coming from the upstairs neighbor. Eun-su, an aspiring writer living in apartment 401, has been applying to numerous writing contests but faces a string of rejections. Meanwhile, for about a month, she has been tormented by unbearable noise coming from unit 501 above. Deciding to use this situation as material for her work, Eun-su, along with her friend Ji-seong, begins observing Ho-gyeong, a middle-aged man living in 501. Even after he notices her excessive stalking, she relentlessly pursues him for the sake of her writing. Eventually, Eun-su arrives at a shocking truth hidden behind the noise, but at the same time, she finds herself backed into a dangerous situation. Director Kim Jeong-uk, who has crafted many stories candidly depicting the human psyche, portrays with intense suspense the psychological anxiety born from trivial troubles lurking in daily life. Ryu Hwa-young, known as a former member of the K-pop group T-ARA, stars in her first lead film role, passionately playing Eun-su, a writer whose obsession with writing blurs the line between reality and delusion. Veteran actor Park Jin-woo, known for the Netflix drama "Squid Game," plays the mysterious upstairs resident Ho-gyeong.
