韓国の名匠ホン・サンスが、都会の4階建てアパートを舞台に芸術家たちが織りなす人間模様をモノクロームの映像でつづった人間ドラマ。 映画監督のビョンスは、インテリア関係の仕事を目指す娘ジョンスとともに、インテリアデザイナーとして活躍する旧友ヘオクの所有するアパートを訪れる。そのアパートは、1階がレストラン、2階が料理教室、3階が賃貸住宅、4階が芸術家向けのアトリエ、そして地下がヘオクの作業場となっていた。ワインを酌み交わしながら、和やかに語り合う3人。やがてビョンスは仕事の連絡が入ったためその場を離れるが、戻ってくるとジョンスの姿が見当たらず……。 アパートの階をひとつずつ上がるごとに物語は4つの章に分かれ、ビョンスと彼を取り巻く4人の女性の人間模様は予測不能な方向へと展開していく。「それから」「夜の浜辺でひとり」のクォン・ヘヒョが映画監督ビョンスを演じ、「あなたの顔の前に」のイ・ヘヨン、ホン・サンス作品の常連俳優ソン・ソンミ、チョ・ユニが共演。

A human drama by Korean master Hong Sang-soo, depicting the interactions of artists in a four-story city apartment building in monochrome imagery. Film director Byeong-su visits the apartment owned by his old friend Heo-ok, an active interior designer, together with his daughter Jeong-su, who aims for a career in interior design. The apartment building has a restaurant on the first floor, a cooking class on the second, rental housing on the third, an atelier for artists on the fourth, and Heo-ok's workspace in the basement. The three chat amiably over wine. Byeong-su leaves briefly for a work call, but when he returns, Jeong-su is nowhere to be found... The story unfolds in four chapters as they ascend each floor of the apartment, and the relationships between Byeong-su and the four women around him develop in unpredictable directions. Kwon Hae-hyo, from "The Day After" and "On the Beach at Night Alone," plays film director Byeong-su. Lee Hye-young from "In Front of Your Face," along with Hong Sang-soo regulars Song Seon-mi and Cho Yun-hee, co-star.
